Mayberry Days Contest
In the
spirit of a good time, contests are always a fun way to get involved and interact
with others in the name of friendly competition. This year contests were a memorable
highlight of many people’s Mayberry Days experience. From participating in the
annual golf tournament to the food eating contests, there was a contest for
everyone.
Mayberry Days Golf Tournament
On Thursday,
September 21, 2017 the Cross Creek Country Club hosted the annual Mayberry
Day’s Golf Tournament also known as The Emmett. The day started out with a rainy mist but
turned into the perfect golfing weather. Each year the golf tournament is held
in memory of Emmett Forrest. He was known as the Keeper of the Flame and was a passionate golfer and friend to
many.
Golfers
began rallying up around 11am on Thursday morning to prepare for the day of golfing.
In addition to the game, golfers were invited to a country buffet dinner and
were entertained by special guests. With great weather, wonderful food, and
good company the event was an exciting way to kick off the weekend.
Golfers were
able to experience the lush green course, the charming environment, and that
good old southern hospitality along the Blue Ridge Mountains. This 18-hole
championship course gave golfers a fun challenge over about 6800 yards. The
course plays to a par of 72 and has several tees. As the competitors played,
they were presented with a scenic view of luscious green grass, bunkers, and
water holes.
Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat was there during
the tournament to sponsor local golfers and had a few RAM trucks for golfers to
swing by and take some fun photos with. We had a lot of fun out on the course
and if you saw a truck you liked, swing by Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram
Fiat and take a look at the new 2018 RAM trucks on our lot. Just in time for
the cold weather!
Andy Griffith Playhouse
All week
long, the Andy Griffith Playhouse served as the hub for fun events and
activities. From games and activities to
local vendors and live music, the Playhouse was surrounded with exciting events
for all. The Andy Griffith
Museum was open all week for anyone to visit. Andy Griffith is one of the most iconic
people from Mount Airy and the Andy Griffith Museum is still one of Mount
Airy’s most popular tourist attractions. The museum holds a collection of
props, artifacts, and even wardrobes that have been donated by the cast and
crew of The Andy Griffith Show. A place of learning, the museum’s purpose is to
preserve the legacy of Andy Griffith and educate those who visit the museum on
the culture of Mount Airy. The museum was open the entire week of the Mayberry
Days and on Saturday, special guest Professor Neal Brower gave guests his
annual lecture with an in-depth analysis of the classic TV show. Maybe you saw
some of our latest RAM models out in front of the museum and playhouse? We have
several new 2018 RAM’s in right now and as you get ready for the cold weather
and snow, a new truck will be the perfect vehicle for cold weather driving.
On Saturday morning our favorite event of the Mayberry
Days was held: the parade! People from all over Surry County came to watch and
participate in the parade. You may have even seen us there. We provided several
RAM trucks to carry important members of the community through the parade such
as Elvis, the Pickle Queen, and more.
If you saw us at the parade let us know! And if you saw a
RAM truck you liked, come in and take a look at the new models we on our lot.
