Drag Race: Dodge Demon Challenges the Hellcat on the Quarter Mile

Here at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat we always love a good dragstrip challenge. Dodge recently pitted their two racers on the ¼ mile. The 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, Dodge's street-legal factory drag car with 808 horsepower (840 on race gas) and the most powerful production car V8 with 770 lb-ft of torque, took on the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat, which brings 707 horsepower from a supercharged V8 with 560 lb-ft of torque.

Want more numbers? The Demon does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and takes the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph, National Hot Rod Association certified, making it the world’s fastest for a production car. The Hellcat does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph with the stock Pirellis.

But specifications aren’t as much fun as putting rubber to the road. Spoiler alert – the Demon wins.

At the finish line, the Demon clocked 133.84 mph versus the Hellcat’s 124.22 mph.

While the 2015 Challenger Hellcat can be found on the used car market, only 3,000 Demons are to hit production in the U.S. market. Thinking about buying one? Dodge sweetens the pot with a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and six-year, 60,000-mile drivetrain warranty.
