Time to Upgrade Your Wrangler!

The holidays are right around the corner and you can never go wrong with a gift that keeps giving all year-round: an upgrade to your Jeep. The Jeep Gladiator is one of the easiest vehicles to modify straight off the assembly line, as you get the benefits of interchangeable aftermarket parts from the current Jeep Wrangler, with the versatility of a very capable mid-size pickup truck. With the new JL model, the Rubicon is one of the most capable off-road vehicles on the market straight from the factory, but other non-Rubicon models (i.e. Sport, Sahara) are going to need more upgrades to be ready for off-roading adventures.

Luckily, the market is rapidly expanding for both the JL and JG, and at Mount Airy CDJR, we know which modifications will increase your vehicle’s capability and increase the joy of owning a Jeep this holiday season.

“Stocking” Stuffers

If you’re looking for stocking-sized gifts (well, an attempt at stocking sized, really), we’ve got you covered! Like most modifications, there are cheaper and higher end options available depending on your budget and material preferences for your build. We’ll try to provide recommendations on both ends of the spectrum. Whether you are enjoying the JL Wrangler or Jeep Gladiator, there are modifications for every Jeep owner.

Upgrading Shocks

Like most Jeeps, the JG factory shocks are well suited to the driving needs of most drivers. Many people leave their Jeeps stock and do not add additional weight. But, once you start wanting to support bigger tires, wheels, and cargo weight, you will need to upgrade to aftermarket shocks. If you want the flexibility to tune your shocks for the desired performance, such as transitioning from off-roading to commuting to work, adjustable shocks enable you to easily lighten the shock valving for a smoother ride in the city versus firm valves for heavy weight towing or hauling gear up a trail.

Audio, Navigation, and Infotainment System

Some of the top aftermarket upgrades we’re seeing to the Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT is installing a new audio system, infotainment system, and navigation system. Seamless centralized and hands-free devices give drivers the technologically savvy comforts for long distance-trips and off-roading.

This 10” infotainment system comes packed with user-customized screens, vehicle information like drivetrain and gauge, as well as full-HD exterior cameras, Park Sense, USB ports, and steering wheel controls. The Heigh10’ is developed specifically to integrate with the Jeep Wrangler JL (2018-2020) and Gladiator JT (2020).

This all-weather 9” screen comes built with Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capability, HD Radio™, and plenty of input options, alongside amazing smartphone connectivity and quality sound. The dash kit replaces the section of your Jeep’s dash and comes with wiring adapters that plug directly into the factory electronics and wiring. The touch screen and bezel are splash and dust-proof, so this infotainment system is ready for every adventure you take it on. The Alpine x409 works on select 2018 and up Wrangler JL’s and the Gladiator JT (2020).

When installing a new head unit, we highly recommend our team at Mount Airy CDJR. The process, while not impossible to do yourself, requires removing the trim and screws of your existing unit, potentially crimping wires, and soldering to the wires that connect the fuse behind the factory stereo system. Our team provides expertise on the manufacturer’s side to ensure that your new infotainment system works flawlessly.

Dead Pedal

A dead pedal helps support and stabilize the driver as the vehicle goes over rough terrain, and most 4x4s come standard with a dead pedal support platform for the driver’s left leg. If you’ve been off-road in your Gladiator or JL Wrangler already, you may have realized that neither come with a dead pedal. Provide the driver in your life some comfort and relief from hamstring and ankle fatigue with a dead pedal before your next long road trip!

Grab Handles

Get a grip on your next ride with sport handles. This is an ideal gift for off-roaders or the crazy Jeep driver in your life.
