The Future of Driving is Electric

 Electric Vehicles in Mount Airy

In recent years, there has been a push for car companies to create electric versions of our favorite makes and models. Why go electric? For starters, you can save a ton of money on fuel and maintenance by driving an electric vehicle. On top of that, it looks as though electric vehicles are the future of driving because they are better for the environment, much cheaper on fuel, and require much less maintenance.

Just imagine having only one thing to take care of with your car—keeping it charged. No gas, no grimy oil changes, no multi-speed transmission. Kind of difficult to imagine, isn’t it? But in due time, it will be a reality.

Anytime new technology is introduced, people become wary of it, especially when that technology is to replace something we have grown accustomed to using, like a gas-powered, oil-slugging machine. We don’t like change, even when that change is for the better.

Car manufacturers such as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram all know change is inevitable, which is why they are all gearing up to engage in the electric-vehicle phenomena. These same car companies know another piece of very important information: though we may be wary of it, once we spend a little time with a newer, safer method of driving, we will embrace the change.

What’s Coming

There is exciting news for some of our favorite car companies. A new wave of electric vehicles is to hit the market soon, and at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have everything you need to know.

One of the most versatile trucks on the market, the Ram pickup, will come as fully electric within the next couple of years. The Ram EV will cost close to $70,000 when it first comes out, experts say, and the truck is sure to come fully prepped with all the newest technological features and updates.

In the same vein, it is just a matter of time before venerable companies like Jeep come out will all-electric vehicles—there is already a hybrid Wrangler that has been growing in popularity. According to Christian Meunier, the company’s global president, they are excited to start on electric and hybrid versions of the classic SUVs, starting with the China-market Jeep Commander. He also mentioned that by 2022, all Jeep models will have either an electric or hybrid version.

Electric Pacifica

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is one of our favorite vehicles, and its electric version is just as impressive—maybe even more so. Sure it still has all the loveable features: the Touring editing comes with a built-in garage door opener, as well as, one-touch second-row power windows (with sunshades). There’s also a new Red S Appearance package that includes Rodeo Red Nappa leather upholstery (with Light Diesel Gray stitching and highlights) to dress-up the Pacifica even more.

Here are a few other key features to the Pacifica:

  • A black Chrysler badge with a Velvet Red insert
  • Black 18-inch alloy wheels
  • 20-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
  • A three-pane panoramic sunroof
  • The UConnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system
  • The addition of Advanced SafetyTec Group

But the biggest innovation is the electric option (a similar feature, the plug-in hybrid, has actually been available for some time). Modern innovation has created a better, safer, more responsible way to travel and it’s time to embrace the future of driving.

The Electric Pacifica

The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In was the first hybrid minivan to enter the North American market, which is pretty groundbreaking. Since it was a plug-in hybrid, the Pacifica had a larger battery than a standard hybrid vehicle and could travel in full EV mode. With the battery positioned where the Stow N' Go second-row seats were, the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In almost retained the same level of practicality as its non-hybrid sibling, making the decision to go fully electric an easy one. A refreshed 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is just what we need, especially the new Pinnacle trim with more luxury-oriented features, Uconnect 5 infotainment system, and optional AWD.
