The
second generation of the Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel has arrived. On the outside, a
casual observer may not notice many features to distinguish it from the
outgoing era, but there’s more than meets the eye with the new Rebel. Don’t be
mistaken, the 2019 Rebel is still among the most attractive pickups on the
market. But its capabilities are perhaps what sets it apart from the
competition.
Raw
Power
If you’re on the search for a new pickup, there’s a good
chance the new Rebel has what you’re looking for—and then some. Let’s explore
some of the most impressive features the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel has to
offer, along with configurations and pricing:
Raw
Power
There are three different engines available on the new Rebel:
- 3.6L V6 with eTorque (standard)
- 5.7L V8 Hemi
- 5.7L V8 Hemi with eTorque
The eTorque is a mild hybrid system that provides
regenerative braking and engine stop-start. It gives the engine a little more
power and offers better fuel economy, among other benefits.
The standard V6 engine produces 305 horsepower and 269 ft-lb
of torque, and it can tow up to 7,730 lb. Both of the V8 engines produce 395
horsepower and 410 ft-lb of torque, though the V8 with eTorque beats the one
without it in maximum towing capacity with 12,750 lbs compared to 11,610 lbs.
All configurations come with an automatic eight-speed
transmission and buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel
drive (high and low).
Smooth Riding
Another impressive feature on the new Rebel is how smooth of
a ride it delivers—both on and off the road. You can even say the ride comfort
competes with that of a luxury SUV. While a coil-sprung suspension comes
standard, buyers can opt for Ram’s renowned air suspension. Also, the Rebel comes
with Bilstein shocks that are specially tuned for a superior off-road
experience. Moreover, 33” all-terrain Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac rubber tires
provide unmatched traction, but they’re also pretty quiet on the asphalt.
Front-Facing Camera
Many Dodge fans are excited that this feature has made its
way to the Rebel models: a front-facing camera. The Rebel’s aggressive hood
definitely adds muscle to its overall look, but it also makes it challenging to
see clearly in front of you—especially obstacles on the ground, such as a
parking curb.
Enter a grille-mounted camera that makes parking a breeze
and helps in certain off-road situations. As with rear-view cameras, the
front-facing camera on the Rebel gives you a clear image of what’s in front of
you on the infotainment screen, and it’s easy to get used to.
RamBox Cargo Management
The RamBox Cargo Management System adds storage space to the
truck bed. Rather than the traditional storage compartment found behind the cab
on many trucks, the RamBox is built into the side rails of the truck bed. This
location allows you to store long items (e.g., full-size shovels, rifles, etc.)
without compromising any of your truck bed space. Plus, the RamBox keeps items
inside secure, and you can lock and unlock it with a remote.
Scarlet Interior
This is a feature that some people won’t care for and that
others will love. The new Rebel comes with intricate interior designs and loud,
deep red accents—most notably on the door panels, center console, and dashboard
trim. The seats come in two-tone (red and black) cloth and vinyl, and Goodyear
Duratrac tire tread patterns grace the backs and bottoms of the seats. In
short, it’s bold and ambitious. For $2995, you can upgrade to leather seats (as
well as a 12” infotainment screen).
Prices
There are more configurations offered on the 2019 Rebel than
in previous years. The base model starts at $44,240, which includes the 3.6L V6
engine, RWD format, crew cab, and 5’7” cargo box. Opting for 4WD bumps the
price up to $47,740. You can keep the V6 and 4WD configuration, and swap the
crew cab for a quad cab and 6’4” bed, for $44,940. If you want the 5.7L V8
Hemi, it will add $1395 for the standard and $2645 for the V8 with
eTorque.
There isn’t a single light-duty truck on the market that
impresses more than the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel. Its refinement and
performance exceeds even the Rebels of previous years, and in many areas, it
leaves the competition in the dust. If you’re looking for a powerful and
comfortable pickup with an aggressive, well-rounded appearance, then look no
further than the new Rebel. Come see us at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT
